The artist image above came to us as a word picture in Daniel Chapter 2. Daniel is a Prophet of God who lived and wrote about 600 BC.
Babylon was the Mediterranean World Capitol at that time.
The dream was also given by God to Daniel the Prophet along with the interpretation of the Dream.
The Dream showed 4 Great Kings that would rule over the Mediterranean World including rule over Israel.
The 4 Kings are also pictured in Daniel 7:1-10 which is an outline of history as the events are hundreds and thousands of years apart including the destruction of the Beast at Armageddon, the millennial reign of Jesus Christ and the Great White Throne Judgment.
The Beast is also pictured in Revelation 13:1-2 with the four Beasts becoming a composite meaning the four are combined into one which is the Revived Roman Empire.
Other great Kings of the Gentile world are not given here as they came at a time when Israel was in WORLD WIDE DISPERSION and not in Israel meaning the 70 week, 490 year clock, Daniel 9:23-27 was not running and the World at large was in the AGE OR TIMES OF THE GENTILES, Romans 11:25, Luke 21:24.
The GOSPEL AND BIBLE KNOWLEDGE are now being spread throughout the Gentile World by Messianic Jews and Gentile Christians. About 2000 years have elapsed since Calvary which is the age of the Gentiles, an open period of time whose duration is not specified.
Sixty nine, 69 weeks were completed at the Crucifixion of Jesus at Calvary, Daniel 9:26 which is the end of the 62 week segment and the clock was stopped with 1 week, 7 years remaining and we entered the age of the Gentiles, Romans 11:25, Luke 21:24.
DANIEL 2:20–DANIEL answered and said, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His.
DANIEL 2:21–And He changes the times and the seasons; He causes kings to pass away, and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those who know understanding.
DANIEL 2:22–He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells in Him.
DANIEL 2:23–I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and has made me know what we ask of You. For You have revealed to us the king’s matter.
DANIEL 2:24–Then DANIEL went in to Arioch, whom the king had chosen to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went and said this to him, Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon. Bring me in before the king, and I will show the meaning to the king.
DANIEL 2:25–Then Arioch quickly brought DANIEL in before the king and spoke this to him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah who will make the meaning known to the king.
DANIEL 2:26–The king answered and said to DANIEL, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are you able to reveal to me the dream which I have seen, and its meaning?
DANIEL 2:27–DANIEL replied before the king and said, The secret which the king has demanded cannot be shown to the king by the wise men, the conjurers, the magicians, or the star-gazing ones.
DANIEL 2:28–But there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets, and makes known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the LATTER DAYS. Your dream, and the visions of your head on your bed, are these:
DANIEL 2:29–As for you, O king, your thoughts came on your bed, what should happen after this. And He who reveals secrets makes known to you what shall occur.
DANIEL 2:30–But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living man, but so that the meaning might be made known to the king, and that you might know the thoughts of your heart.
DANIEL 2:31–You, O king, were seeing. And, behold, a certain great image! That great image stood before you with a brilliant brightness, and its form was dreadful.
DANIEL 2:32–The head of this image was of fine gold, its breast and its arms were of silver, its belly and its thighs were of bronze.
The BELLY here is Alexander the Great and the THIGHS were two, 2 prominent Generals out of the four, 4 Greek generals that replaced Alexander when he died.
The two were General Ptolemy and Seleucus who started the Seleucid Empire, Head quartered in Syria.
Out of the Seleucid Empire came Antiochus IV Epiphanes.Antiochus ruled over Judah 175-164 BC with the last 7 years being the Maccabean revolt against him and the traitors of Judah. Judah won independence until conquered by the Romans who were the legs of Iron in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream .
Antiochus IV Epiphanes was the eighth in a succession of twenty-six kings who ruled from 175—164 BC over the Syrian section of Alexander’s empire. He is referred to as the “little horn” in Daniel 8:9. The name Epiphanes means the ILLUSTRIOUS ONE, although his contemporaries nicknamed him Epimanes, meaning MADMAN. He differs in many respects with the LITTLE HORN of Daniel Chapter seven seeing that the LITTLE HORN of Daniel 7:8 appears in the context of the fourth kingdom ROME, while the LITTLE HORN of Daniel 8:9 appears in the context of the third kingdom GREESE.” Yet taken as a whole Antiochus IV Epiphanes is undoubtedly one of the greatest prototypes of the Antichrist in all of God’s Word.
ALEXANDER THE GREAT
Daniel 11:4–“But as soon as he has arisen, his kingdom will be broken up and parceled out toward the four points of the compass, though not to his own descendants, nor according to his authority which he wielded, for his sovereignty will be uprooted and given to others besides them.
DANIEL 2:33–Its legs were of iron, its feet were partly of iron and partly of clay.
DANIEL 2:34–You continued until a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them to pieces.
The stone here is Jesus Christ who will destroy the Beast at Armageddon and it will never be re-assembled or rise again. The destruction of the Beast will be followed by the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN for 1000 years and that will be followed by the 5th, the 2nd major resurrection and that will be followed by the Eternal KINGDOM OF GOD in which all of it’s citizens will be Righteous. All Evil will be in the ETERNAL LAKE OF FIRE with no chance of parole, pardon or escape as having knowledge they have chosen Evil by their volition. Many people will be saved simply because they helped their neighbor showing mercy, Matthew 5:7.
DANIEL 2:35–Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were together broken to pieces, and they became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors. And the wind carried them away so that no place was found for them. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
DANIEL 2:36–This is the dream, and we will tell the meaning of it before the king.
DANIEL 2:37–You O king are the king of kings. For the God of Heaven has given you the kingdom, the power, and the strength, and the honor.
DANIEL 2:38–And wherever the sons of men, the animals of the field, and the birds of the sky dwell, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all. You are the head of gold.
DANIEL 2:39–And in your place shall arise another kingdom lower than yours, and another third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule in all the earth.
DANIEL 2:40–And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron. Inasmuch as iron crushes and smashes all things, and as the iron that shatters all these, it will crush and shatter.
DANIEL 2:41–And as to that you saw, the feet and the toes were partly of potters’ clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided. But there shall be in it the strength of iron, because you saw the iron mixed with clay of the potter.
DANIEL 2:42–And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile.
DANIEL 2:43–And as you saw the iron mixed with the clay of the clay, they shall be mixed with the seed of men. But they shall not adhere to one another, even as iron does not mix with clay.
DANIEL 2:44–And in the days of these kings, the God of Heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed. And the kingdom shall not be left to other people. It shall break in pieces and destroy all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
