GOD is LOVE

EXPLICIT BIBLE TRUTH
Jesus
Who is He
What is He
Why is He

Romans 10:13 for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

James 3:7 For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by the human race.

James 3:8 But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.

Love, Agape!

1John 4:6 We, the apostles of Jesus Christ are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

1John 4:7 Beloved, let us love , one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

1John 4:8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Love in the context of this commentary is translated from the Greek word Agape unless otherwise specified.

The Greek word “AGAPE” translated Love and also translated charity in 1Corinthians chapter 13 in the KJV Bible probably is more easily understood as charity although the idea of us being charitable to God is difficult to comprehend.

Agape and forms of agape such as agapao are the exact opposite of selfishness.

The idea here seems to be an action whereby an individual, the giver, donor, assists or helps another person by doing for that person a work, deed in which that person receives what he, she needs as food, clothing, shelter, friendship or medical treatment even blood, counciling, etc ;. Sometimes a pat on the back or a kind word can do much good. A thoughtful choice of words can be very wise.

Other than a “thank you” the giver, donor does not expect repayment as the receiver may not even know who the giver is. This work we do is not based on knowing or liking the other person but is focused on their need. As there are many charlatans here and about we should first investigate or use a go between that we trust.

Matthew 22:35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him, Jesus a question, tempting him,

Matthew 22:36 Master, teacher which is the great commandment in the law?

Matthew 22:37 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love agapao the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Our “AGAPAO”, love toward God comes from the spiritual part of us which is heart, soul, and mind.

When we are born again we have the Holy Spirit in us who gives us the ability to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ who has these aforementioned assets and agape, love for God His Father and the redeemed, men and women of God, Romans 8:29.

Matthew 22:38 This is the great and first commandment.

Matthew 22:39 And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mind, Soul, and Heart are the spiritual part of us and the word of God, the Bible is what feeds them.

Love, agape in verse 22:37 and 22:38 are both commandments and they are the source of the 10 commandments which we can not keep to perfection but we practice wanting to please God, reaching for perfection .

1Corinthians 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

The Corinthians and many others liked the flashy gifts such as prophecy and tongues and had no perspective for loving others.

In this context the Holy Spirit through Paul is warning the Church that Prophecy and tongues are temporary gifts and are being used only until completion of the canon of scripture, the new testament. The completed text, canon we call the Bible.

The old testament canon, the Law of Moses, the Psalms, and the Prophets was completed at the advent, the beginning of the ministry of John the Baptist.

Luke 16:14 And being lovers of money, the Pharisees also heard all these things; and they derided, buffeted Him, Jesus .

Luke 16:15 And He, Jesus said to them, You are those justifying yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for the thing highly prized among men is a hateful thing before God.

Luke 16:16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John, John the Baptist; since then the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

Luke 16:17 But it is easier for the heaven and the earth to pass away than one point of the Law to fail.

Kingdom of God is the final and eternal phase of God’s plan of redemption and restoration in which only those made righteous by the “Blood of the Lamb of God” will reside.

Everyone here is probably referring to the Pharisees of verses 16:14-15 and other like minded people who claim to represent God here on earth but are extremely evil and actually represent the dark side, Satan with themselves in charge as it is today but will soon end, Rev. 12:7-11.

1Corinthians 13:2 And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

I am nothing here is an interesting phrase . “I” is the first person singular and is referring to the Apostle Paul himself.

God made the Apostles to be His showcase, examples for the Church even in their imperfections but working toward improvement.

1Corinthians 13:3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

Love, agape definition!

1Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,

1Corinthians 13:5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,

1Corinthians 13:6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

1Corinthians 13:7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. Now if there are prophecies, they will be done away with. If there are tongues, they will cease. If there is knowledge, it will be done away with.

1Corinthians 13:13 Right now three things, 3Gifts of the Holy Spirit remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Philippians 2:5 For think this within you, which mind was also in Christ Jesus,

The mind of Christ Jesus was God the Word, John 1:1,14.

Philippians 2:6 who subsisting, existing in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God,

Philippians 2:7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, having become in the likeness of men

Philippians 2:8 and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, having become obedient until death, even the death of a cross.

Romans 8:28 But we know that to the ones loving God, Matthew 22:37 all things work together for good, to those being called according to purpose;

Romans 8:29 because whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, for Him to be the First-born among many brothers.

Romans 8:30 But whom He predestinated, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Glorified here is referring to verse 8:29, Conformed to the image, righteousness of His Son who is Jesus Christ.

Calvary is about love and obedience to God, Jehovah!

1John 3:16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1John 3:17 But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?

1John 3:18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

1John 3:19 We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him

1John 3:20 in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

1John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;

1John 3:22 and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.

We strive for perfection but we are not yet perfect, complete.

We are the work of God who is conforming us to perfection,

the image of His son, Romans 8:29, Ephesians 2:8-10.

In this body when our spirit controls our flesh we are said to be sons, mature and have moved from spiritual children status to spiritual adults. For that to happen we need Bible teaching!

James 2:14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?

James 2:15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,

James 2:16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.

James 2:18 But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

2Corinthians 9:6 And this: the one sowing sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one sowing on hope of blessings will also reap on blessings.

2Corinthians 9:7 Each one as he purposes in his heart, not out of grief or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Proverbs. 22:8-10

Giving beyond our means to give is not wise , also be wise as there are many charlatans in the world.
