CHURCH DISCIPLINE!
3**You have perseverance and have endured for My name’s sake, and have not grown weary.
4**’But I have this against you, that YOU HAVE LEFT YOUR FIRST LOVE.
5**’Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you, and will REMOVE YOUR LAMPSTAND out of its place–unless you repent.
2Peter chapter 3:
FIRST WORKS!
18**But grow by means of God’s grace in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him is the glory of God, Romans 8:29-30 both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
OUR FIRST LOVE was; who, what and why CONCERNING Jesus Christ. The works of the Church at Emphasis were good works but they had forgotten their primary mission of KNOWING THE SAVIOR, 1Peter 3:15 and the credentials of the Savior which is the WORD OF GOD. SEE ALSO Revelation 3:8, the ideal Church.
The Lampstand holds up the LIGHT OF THE WORLD who is Jesus Christ. The Local Church is that Lampstand, Revelation 1:20.
OUR CHURCH MISSION:
The Apostles were not sent into the world to save the world but to preach the Gospel of redemption. Ephesians 1:13, Acts 13:48, Acts 17:34 which is peace between God and mankind through the Man Christ Jesus and Calvary. Calvary is the measure of the obedience of Jesus Christ to God the Father, Luke 22:42.
Obedience to God the Father is what defeated Satan, John 16:11, Hebrews chapter one.
The obedience of Jesus ENABLED the Grace of God and consequently the salvation of the many, Luke 23:39-43, Romans 10:10, 1Corinthians 15:21-22.
Although Satan has been judged he will not be removed from authority until Armageddon, Revelation 12:10-14.
Satan is currently pleading his condemnation before God the Father, Revelation 12:10. His argument apparently is that mankind must be ruled by Evil force and not by Grace.
Satan has been given opportunity to prove his perspective of RULE BY EVIL. This gives the redeemed of Mankind and Angels the opportunity to witness the FAILURE OF EVIL which is necessary for our completion, transformation to Righteousness in God’s SHOW AND TELL program, Romans 8:18-22.
The Holy Spirit is the one who seals people, Ephesians 1:13-14 for the Day of redemption and He is the tutor who indwells those sealed for redemption, all of which are Saints.
Our purpose here is not to defeat Evil but to support the word of God because we are the Pillars and Support of the truth, Revelation 3:12 which is Jesus Christ our FIRST LOVE who was CRUCIFIED for our sins AND RESURRECTED as a witness to the success of His ministry, Romans 4:25.
2PETER CHAPTER 1:
MOVING TO MATURITY AFTER SALVATION!
1**From Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ— To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have been given a faith as precious as ours, Ephesians 1:13-14:
2**May grace and peace be yours in full measure THROUGH YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF GOD AND OF JESUS OUR LORD.
3**God’s divine power has given us everything we need to live a truly RELIGIOUS life through our knowledge of the one who called us to SHARE IN HIS OWN GLORY AND GOODNESS, Romans 8:29-30.
RELIGIOUS life here is not a ritualistic life but an obedient life upholding the commandments of God, 1John 5:1-5 which is loving God and loving our neighbor, Luke 10:27. As we are incapable of always doing that God has also provided 1John 1:9 leading us to repentance and discipline if necessary. We are learning how to be SONS OF GOD, Hebrews 12:5-9, verse 9 is mortal death and Romans 8:13-14, verse 14 is also mortal death and is talking about moving to maturity.
All those born of God are children of God and those who are walking with God are mature children, SONS OF GOD, Romans 8:14, Ephesians 4:14-15. All will be saved but some will have NO inheritance other than salvation, Romans 8:16-21, 1Corinthians 3:1-3, Galatians 5:18-26.
Salvation is the start line of the race to completion. Those who do not run the race or do not run according to the rules will not receive a reward. All of the redeemed of God are capable of completing the race and winning the prize, 2Timothy 4:7-8, Luke 6:46-49.
4**In this way he has given us the very great and precious gifts HE PROMISED, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the DIVINE NATURE, Romans 8:28-30.
5**For this very reason do your best to add goodness to your faith; to your goodness add knowledge;
6**to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add endurance; to your endurance add godliness;
7**to your godliness add Christian affection; and to your Christian affection add love.
8**These are the qualities you need, and if you have them in abundance, they will make you ACTIVE AND EFFECTIVE in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9**But if you do not have them, you are so shortsighted that you cannot see and have forgotten that YOU HAVE BEEN PURIFIED FROM YOUR PAST SINS, 1Corinthians 6:11.
REWARDS:
10**So then, my friends, try even harder to make God’s call and HIS CHOICE OF YOU a completed experience; if you do so, you will never abandon your faith.
11**In this way you will be given THE FULL RIGHT to enter the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Saints that do not walk with the LORD will be least in the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, Matthew 5:19 and in the eternal KINGDOM OF HEAVEN but they will be in both kingdoms by God’s Grace.
People that deliberately live an unrepentant Evil life, Romans 1:18-32 will go to the LAKE OF FIRE with their sins paid for and the redeemed who do not walk with the LORD will not be placed in positions of responsibility, Luke 16:10-13. Those who have faithfully served God will receive reward. Those who marry and faithfully raise and support a family are in service to God. Those whose focus is on money will receive less, Luke 16:9 with the eternal dwellings being property of the faithful.
Do not confuse Grace and Rewards as they are apples and oranges but carefully read the context and do not read prejudice into the context.
Some men and women and children will be saved who never knew the name of God, 1Peter 3:18-20 and 4:6 and Romans 1:18-20 and 2:12-16. Noah was a preflood preacher of righteousness 2Peter 2:5.
12**And so I will always remind you of these matters, even though you already know them and are firmly grounded in the truth you have received.
13**I think it only right for me to stir up your memory of these matters as long as I am still alive.
14**I know that I shall soon PUT OFF THIS MORTAL BODY, as our Lord Jesus Christ plainly told me, John 21:18-22.
15**I will do my best, then, to provide a way for you to remember these matters at all times AFTER MY DEATH (Peters 2 epistles).
16**We have not depended on made-up stories in making known to you the mighty coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. With our own eyes we saw his greatness, Luke 24:48.
17**We were there when he was given honor and glory by God the Father, when the voice came to him from the Supreme Glory, saying, “This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased, Matthew 17:5!”
18**We ourselves heard this voice coming from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19**So we are even more confident of the message proclaimed by the prophets. You will do well to pay attention to it, because it is like A LAMP SHINING IN A DARK PLACE so that the Day dawns and the light of the morning star shines in your hearts.
20**Above all else, however, remember that none of us can explain by ourselves a prophecy in the Scriptures, 1Corinthians 2:11-16.
21**For no prophetic message ever came from the human will, but people were under the control of the Holy Spirit as they spoke the message that came from God.
