Sometimes question just come to me with some answers delayed but arriving shortly and some are delayed for longer periods of time and sometimes come from others but they are always confirmed by the Bible, 1John 4:1.
COMMENTARY
Free will and Election Revised
Volition (free will) and election, (predestination) seem to contradict each other leaving many Christians confused.
GRACE Message to the Apostles
Luke 24:44 And He said to them, These are the Words which I spoke to you yet being with you, that all the things must be fulfilled having been written in the LAW OF MOSES, and the PROPHETS, and the PSALMS, concerning Me.
Luke 24:45 Then He opened up their mind to understand the Scriptures,
Luke 24:46 and said to them, So it is written, and so the Christ must suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day.
Luke 24:47 And REPENTANCE FOR REMISSION OF SINS must be preached by His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
As God is omniscient, all knowing He foreknows those who will take advantage of His Grace plan BY REPENTANCE and causes them to be BORN AGAIN.
He, God also foreknows those WHO WILL NOT REPENT but still gives them opportunity to REPENT and be Saved, Acts 17: 30-34, Acts 20:20-21.
Election
Romans 9:11 For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;
Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Romans 9:14 What shall we say then? IS THERE unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
The Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul is saying “IS GOD CAPRICIOUS? OR IS HE A RESPECTER OF PERSONS? And the answer is NO as that would be unrighteous”.
Romans 9:15 For He, God saith to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
It’s God’s choice but it is NOT capricious, 1Peter 1:1-3.
Romans 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth MERCY.
Mercy comes from the Grace of God. Mercy is wasted on those who prefer EVIL and will always choose, opt for destruction and control by EVIL as the Creation itself cannot sustain EVIL, Romans 8:18-23.
The Election of Saints
1Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has CAUSED US to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1Peter 1:4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will NOT FADE AWAY, reserved in heaven for you,
1Peter 1:5 who are protected by the power of God THROUGH FAITH for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Foreknowledge, Predestination
Romans 8:29 because whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, for Him to be the First-born among MANY BROTHERS.
Romans 8:30 But whom He predestinated, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
SO: What does foreknowledge mean?
It means that God who is omniscient, all knowing, knew something about us before we existed.
WHAT did God know?
God knew that when He gave us of His Holy Spirit that He could conform us to the image of His son, Christ Jesus, Romans 8:29.
Acts 5:32 “And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
We will eventually operate under our own volition, self will in concert with the Spirit of God who is our companion, adviser, and teacher both now and in eternity future. None of us continually obey God while in our mortal body so He, God has provided 1John 1:9. This is a provision of the Melchisedec priesthood, Hebrews 6:19-20 for confession by prayer by the BLOOD, the successful life, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus and also for cleansing by discipline, Hebrews chapter 12 when necessary.
God did not design us to be robots but rather to fellowship with Him now and in the future, John 4:23-24. We fellowship with God through meditation on scripture and prayer bringing forth our thoughts by means of our eternal companion and communicator, the Holy Spirit who interprets and relays our prayers to God the Father, Romans 8:26.
The target of God is our soul, 1Peter 1:9 using our regenerated spirit in concert with the Holy Spirit. At the Rapture of the Church we, our soul and spirit, will be united with our new spiritual body, 1Corinthians 15:51-52. When our soul and spirit are out of our Mortal body they meaning us will be with the Lord Jesus Christ in the third Heaven, 2Corinthians 5:8, John 14:1-3.
Our natural mortal body is dead because of sin and will be dumped in a grave or cremated at our death but will be the seed for our new body at the Rapture 1Corinthians 15:37,44. While we are in the flesh we struggle with the desires of the flesh, Romans 7:15-16.
Romans 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much long suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: (self fitted, non repentant)
Romans 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Romans 9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
Romans 9:25 As he saith also in Osee (Hosea 1:10, 2:23), I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved, (the Body of Christ, the Church).
Functioning Priesthood of the Saints
1Timothy 2:1 First of all then, I exhort that petitions, prayers, supplications, and thanksgivings be made on behalf of all MANKIND,
1Timothy 2:2 for kings and all the ones being in high position, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet existence in all godliness and dignity.
1Timothy 2:3 For this is good and acceptable before God our Savior,
1Timothy 2:4 who desires all MANKIND to be SAVED AND TO COME TO A FULL KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH.
SO, Since God is willing that all mankind should be saved why will many and perhaps most of mankind be lost? It has to do with the volition, self will of mankind which was foreknown by God.
John 3:19 And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the Light, for their works were evil.
John 3:20 For everyone practicing wickedness hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, that his works may not be exposed.
John 3:21 But the one doing the truth comes to the Light, that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God.
