âWELCOME TO ALMOST SPRINGâ
EXPLICIT BIBLE TRUTH
Jesus
Who is He
What is He
Why is He
Suffering:
John 8:31 Jesus therefore was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples, students of Mine;
John 8:32 and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”(you will know who, what and why)
A Caution:
This is Bible commentary with Scripture references but it is not meant to replace the Bible.
The sole purpose is to assist in understanding what the Bible teaches.
The Scripture references are taken out of context. So, to avoid misunderstanding the surrounding text should also be read.
The Bible is a textbook for all believers. We begin with milk doctrines for infants and advance becoming Spiritual Adults, 1Peter 2:2, Romans 8:14, Hebrews 5:13 and Hebrews 2:11.
So, Who was Job?:
Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil, Luke 1:5-6.
Was Job without sin?, NO, he was not without sin, Job 7:21.
In this discourse Job does not sin with his lips meaning that what he said was correct.
However, the discourses of Jobâs three friends were full of error and for this reason I did not include any quotes from Eliphaz the Teammate, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite even though it is there for us to read (Job 42:7-9).
Keep in mind that the remarks of Job were in response to their error.
Job had a fourth friend Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite who apparently also said what was correct as he received no rebuke from God.
Elihu is quoted in this context as he has the Spirit of God which is a requirement for all Prophets, Job 32:8.
Job is also a prophet of God meaning that God spoke through Job.
James 5:10 As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord, (Hebrews 1:1).
James 5:11 Behold, we count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.
The Epic Begins:
Job 1:6 Now it came to pass on the day when the Sons of God (Elect, Chosen Angels) came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan also came among them.
Elect, Chosen Angels:
1Timothy 5:21 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of His chosen angels, to maintain these principles without bias, doing nothing in a spirit of partiality.
Everything that is happening on Planet Earth is being monitored by God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Chosen Angels.
Ephesians 3:10 so that the manifold wisdom of God (convergence of Godâs written Word, Ephesians 1:9-10) might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.
Satan is also an Angel who at one time was called âthe Anointed Cherub that Coversâ, Ezekiel 28:14-15.
Satan is not called a âSon of Godâ here as he also forfeited that title when he became Satan meaning the enemy.
God made him to be Lucifer, KJV meaning the light bearer but he chose Evil and rejected righteousness, Isaiah 14:12 KJV, John 8:43-45.
God made both Angels and humans with intellect and volition meaning they have the ability to choose Evil or righteousness even though we are born sinners.
The title âSon of Godâ applies to Angles and humans and is gender free 1Peter 3:7and seems to mean perfection or completion meaning they are as God meant them to be, a complete person, Romans 8:29, Galatians 3:26-29, but when sin enters the equation we change and the product is defiled, morphed to something else much like a chocolate cake without chocolate meaning we have the form but not the substance.
Jesus, the humanity of the God-Man who is Jesus Christ has this title, âSon of Godâ and other humans will also hold this title while moving to perfection, completion, Romans 8:29 and Romans 8:14-17, Hebrews 12:7-8, Hebrews 5:8.
As God is omniscient, all knowing this title is bestowed on us now even prior to our completion, Galatians 3:26-29.
The first Adam was also called a âSon of Godâ, Luke 3:38 but when he transgressed he lost the title becoming a âsoulish man or natural manâ, 1Corinthians 2:14.
The first Adam was the progenitor, source of the human race so when he fell he passed his acquired imperfections to all subsequent generations.
We bear the image of the first Adam, 1corinthians 15:20-21, but we will bear the image of the heavenly Adam 1Corinthians15:42-49.
The Challenge:
Job 1:7 And Jehovah said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered Jehovah, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
Job 1:8 And Jehovah said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect (meaning he reveres, fears, holds Jehovah God in the highest esteem and turns away from evil) and an upright man, one that feareth God, and turneth away from evil.
Job 1:9 Then Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
Job 1:10 Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath, on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
Job 1:11 But put forth thy hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will renounce thee to thy face.
Job 1:12 And Jehovah said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah.
Job is impoverished:
Job 1:20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped.
Job 1:21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. JEHOVAH gave and JEHOVAH has taken away. Blessed be the name of JEHOVAH.”
Return there is referring to nakedness and not his motherâs womb. There should probably be translated to meaning I will return to nakedness.
Job 1:22 Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.
Job loses his Health:
Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before JEHOVAH, and Satan also came among them to present himself before JEHOVAH.
Job 2:2 And JEHOVAH said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered JEHOVAH and said, “From roaming about on the earth, and walking around on it.”
Job 2:3 And JEHOVAH said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to ruin him without cause.”
This means that God withdrew His protection from Job and let Satan have his way with exceptions.
So, Job becomes a test case for the Angels of God as well as the human race.
This is a real case study of Righteousness versus Evil that was repeated at Calvary and is still going on today, Romans 5:1-5.
At Armageddon Jesus Christ will destroy the Armies of Satan and Righteousness will rule from that point on meaning Eternally.
At the end of the millennial, 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ also called the âKingdom of Heavenâ Evil will again rebel for a short period but will be dealt with swiftly and they will all be consumed by fire, probably meteor showers from outer space.
They will be judged at the âGreat white Throneâ and all those that practiced Evil will be cast into the lake of fire with the redeemed of God moving to the âNew Heaven and New Earthâ for eternity.
Job 2:4 And Satan answered JEHOVAH and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.
Job 2:5 “However, put forth Thy hand, now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse Thee to Thy face.”
Job 2:6 So JEHOVAH said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life.”
Job 2:7 Then Satan went out from the presence of JEHOVAH, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.
Job 2:8 And he took a potsherd to scrape himself while he was sitting among the ashes.
Potsherd here is a broken piece of pottery also called a shard.
As Job is sitting among the ashes he has probably moved to the city dump.
Sore boils,an Evil inflammation.â What this diabolical disorder was, interpreters are not agreed.
Some think it was the leprosy, and this is the reason why he dwelt by himself, and had his habitation in an unclean place, without the city or in the open air Job 2:12.
Scraping himself with a potsherd indicates a disease accompanied with intolerable itching, one of the characteristics of the smallpox.
Job 2:9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die!”
Job 2:10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Jobâs Friends:
Job 2:11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, they came each one from his own place, Eliphaz the Teammate, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite; and they made an appointment together to come to sympathize with him and comfort him.
Job 2:12 And when they lifted up their eyes at a distance, and did not recognize him, they raised their voices and wept. And each of them tore his robe, and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky.
Job 2:13 Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.
Jobâs forth Friend:
Job 32:1 Then these three men ceased answering Job, because he, Job was righteous in his own eyes.
Righteousheremeans that Job had done no wrong in his opinion which was absolutely correct, Romans 5:1-5.
Job 32:2 But the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram burned; against Job.
His anger burned because he (Job) justified himself
