Joshua the Warrior:

The Hebrew name Jehoshua is translated Jesus in the “New Testament” and Joshua in the “Old Testament” meaning Jesus and Joshua are the same name, Matthew 1:21.

The first coming of Messiah Jesus was as God’s suffering servant but the 2^nd coming will be as a Warrior greater than Joshua who will pour out God’s wrath at Armageddon on the Armies of the world of unrepentant sinners.

Yes, there will be survivors post, after Armageddon who will be tried and separated as are sheep and goats, Matthew 25:31-32 & 32-46.

The sheep, humans will repopulate planet earth for the “Kingdom of Heaven”, lasting 1000 years and the Goats will go to “Everlasting Fire” prepared for the Devil and his Angels and not for humans meaning all humans can choose repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ as the way to “Eternal Life”.

Jesus will confine Satan to a prison for 1000 years probably in the lower parts of the Earth in a place much like Hades, the prison of unrepentant deceased mankind, 2Peter 2:9, Luke 16:23, or Tartarus, the current prison of some Evil Angels, Jude 1:6, 2Peter 2:4.

The Names of God:

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the GodheadBODILY.

He, Jesus Christ by His name “God the Word”, Revelation 19:11-13, will destroy His enemies by the Brightness of His Glory at the 2^nd coming, 2Thessalonians 2:8, Zechariah 14:12, reducing them to rubble, skeletons and cinders the outcome of which will be blood to the horses bridles, Revelation 14:18-20 and Revelation 19:11-16.

Jesus Christ will sit on His throne in Jerusalem and rule planet Earth from His humanity for 1000 years, Acts 17:30-31, 1Corinthians 15:23-28.

Please be advised that Hades and Tartarus are translated HELL in some translations but Hell, Hades, and Tartarus are three different, distinct words with different meanings.

These are all places where no believer will ever reside and is for information only as are other passages, Ephesians 4:11-32.

Joshua 5:13 And it happened, when Joshua was beside Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked. And, behold! A Man stood in front of him, and His drawn sword was in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, Are You for us, or for our foes?

A Man here is what Joshua sees but He is actually Jehovah in the form of a man as we shall see in this context. This is what some would call a Christophany, a preincarnate appearance of Jesus Christ. Can God do this ? Certainly, Genesis 18:1-2.

Joshua 5:14 And He said, No, for I now come as the Commander of the army of Jehovah. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped. And he said to Him, What does my Lord, my God speak to His slave?

My Lord here is Adonay and is used as a proper name of God only.

No here means that Jehovah has not come in a support role but as a commander with Joshua’s Army in support as his God is Jehovah.

Our God is also Jehovah but He came to us as Jesus Christ, “God in the Flesh” who was replaced by the “Holy Spirit” the “Vicar, replacement for Jesus Christ”.

God is the Savior of the world through the ministry of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is God and He is the administrator of the Church. We always pray to the Father in the name of, the ministry of Jesus Christ and that is the protocol of God, obedience to God.

Some of our military commanders recognize this but others rely solely on technology and training as they reduce casualties effectively but do not win wars as we discovered in Vietnam, Korea, and Iraq. But, had the U.S not been in Korea there would be no South Korean government or any of the manufactured goods that they produce proving that freedom produces capitol.

The next step for the communist would have been Japan. After WW11 the U.S Marshal plan paved the way for Germany and Japan to become industrial Giants.

The WW1 Armistice Treaty of Versailles and the collapse of the world economy, the “World Wide Depression” paved the way for Hitler and WW11.

In 1948 Israel was given access to their homeland and they have become another show place of the free world exporting many goods and much produce, fruits and vegetables to Europe and making available abundant lives to Israelis and Palestinians as well as excellent Medical care.

The attacks against Israel are from the New Nazis trying to finish the job of Hitler and Joseph Stalin another murderer.

Wars:

Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you.

Matthew 24:5 “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many.

Matthew 24:6 “And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end, the end of War which will be Armageddon, the last and final War just prior to the “Kingdom of Heaven” where Jesus Christ takes possession of Planet Earth which He has owned for the last 2000 years, Hebrews 1:2.

Wars and rumors of wars:

Matthew 24:7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.

Matthew 24:8 “But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.

Matthew 24:9 “Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you, the Jew will be hated by all nations on account of Myname.

Name here is who and what Jesus Christ is and was .

As Here, Joshua 5:14 above means that He is acting in the capacity of “the commander of the army of Jehovah”.

This context shows us that He is in fact Jehovah and also the commander of His Army.

The Armies of Israel were guaranteed victory by the Army of Jehovah until they went to Ai where they learned about the consequences of sin in the camp where God held all of Israel responsible for the sin of one man and they lost about 36 warriors and retreated.

The plural form, sons, children is used here implying that some men knew about the transgression but said nothing meaning, they should have tried to stop him or to inform Joshua as Joshua did not know.

Those of us who went through military boot camp were taught this very principal meaning the mis-action of one person can get the whole group, squad, platoon, company, etc., killed.

The innocent always suffer for the sins of the guilty as it is today especially by the Governments of the world.

Jesus chastised 5 of the 7 churches in Revelation chapter 2 & 3 for their tolerance of mis-deeds, their mission failure and personal sin.

Israel has seven candles in their Menorah but each Church only has one Candle in its candlestick, lampstand, Greek =luchnia Revelation 1:20 which represents the light of the world, Jesus Christ, Messiah, our first love.

It is interesting that the 7 single candles of the 7 Churches add up to 7 candles in the Menorah probably meaning the mission of Israel, a single nation has now been given to 7 Churches of many nations. When the Church is Raptured the 7 candles will be returned to Israel as the Menorah holder, 7 years prior to Armageddon and 144,000 Israelis men will evangelize the world in about 3.5 years just prior to Armageddon.

The Church is the current “Body of Christ” and Christ is the Eternal God, Ephesians 4:15 and 23.

Only the Church at Philadelphia, Revelation 3:7-13 receives an A+ mark.

Smyrna, a Church in tribulation, the suffering Church as is much of the Church today, is not chastised, 1Peter 4:12-19.

After falling on his face Joshua here is requesting instructions from Jehovah.

Worship:

John 4:23 But an hour is coming, and now is, currently is when the true worshipers will worship the Father in by means of a regenerated spirit and in by means of the truth, God’s Word. For the Father also seeks such, the ones worshiping Him, Acts 16:14, Acts 10:34-35, 1Corinthians chapter 2, especially verse 14.

The very simple meaning here is that those who study their Bible for edification, to understand God and His purpose for each of us will be found by God through His representatives such as the “Apostles of the Lamb of God”.

Today we have the written word of God and the Holy Spirit who leads us into all Truth which is the Bible.

While God seeks those who have faith in Him, God has not excluded anyone and His command to all is “Repentance toward God, toward Righteousness” which is “Faith in God”.

John 4:24 God is spirit, and the ones worshiping Him must worship in by a regenerated spirit and by God’s Word the truth,

A prayer of submission, the Humanity of Jesus Christ:

Matthew 26:39 And He, Jesus went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt.”

Face to Face:

Revelation 7:11 And all the angels were standing around the throne of God Almighty and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,

They are “Face to Face” with the Lord God Almighty.

Praise:

Revelation 7:12 saying; “Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

A Pastors Prayer:

Ephesians 3:14 For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father,

Ephesians 3:15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

Ephesians 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner person;

Ephesians 3:17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

Ephesians 3:18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,

Ephesians 3:19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God.

A simple instruction:

Joshua 5:15 And the Commander of the army of Jehovah said to Joshua, Take your shoes off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy. And Joshua did so.

The instruction here from the commander of the Army of Jehovah is for Joshua to remove his shoes as he is standing on “Holy Ground” and Joshua did so.

Another simple instruction:

Acts 17:30 Truly, then, God overlooking the times of ignorance, now strictly commands all people everywhere to repent, Luke 24:47,

Acts 17:31 because He set a day in which “He is going to judge the world in righteousness,” by a Manwhom He appointed; having given proof to all by raising Him from the dead, Psalm 9:8.

Acts 17:32 And hearing of a resurrection of the dead, some indeed ridiculed, but said, We will hear you again concerning this.

Acts 17:33 And so Paul went out from their midst.

Acts 17:34 But some men believed, joining themselves to him, among whom also were both Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Some believed the message concerning repentance toward God and a resurrected Man who is the humanity of Jesus Christ who is Jesus who will be Judge of all the Earth, 2Corinthians 4:14.

So; repentance toward God and faith in Jesus as Messiah come first and then Water Baptism is something we submit to as a testimony to others, Acts 16:31-33 concerning our faith in God the Father of the Old Testament, God the Son of the Gospels, and God the Holy Spirit of the Epistles, letters to the Churches, Matthew 28:19-20.

The Apostles were teaching the Father and the Son who is the Christ, the anointed, the one chosen of God, Messiah from the “Old Testament” and the arrival of the promised Holy Spirit at Pentecost who is the Vicar of Jesus Christ who indwells the “Body of Christ, the Church” as the “New Testament” was not yet written, John 14:16-18.

Many have been Water Baptized several times as they think they did not get it right in previous tries.

There are no tricks here as God wants to save everyone. The problem is and always has been obedience to God and we need to find out what obedience is.

The 10 commandments are laws of freedom even though we do not keep them letter perfect and they cannot save us simply because we cannot keep them to perfection as we are not yet perfect.

At our death or the rapture our perfected mind, soul, and spirit will leave this body of death and be with the Lord Jesus Christ in the 3^rd Heaven either in our new body or we will be waiting for the Rapture where “Church Age Saints” will receive their new body, 2^nd Corinthians 5:6-10.

The 10 commandments come from 2 basic laws which are loving God and loving our neighbor, Matthew 22:36-40.

Anyone who does not walk with the Lord does not Practice righteousness as measured by God’s commandments and is either under discipline or not saved, 1John 3:10.

All sin is failure to keep the commandments of God.

Repentance toward God means to change our minds and begin to practice righteousness as measured by the commandments of God, 1John 5:1-5.

We could be water baptized, 1Peter 3:21 every week but Spirit Baptism is only once and it is permanent, eternal, John 14:16.

Many who were water Baptized by John the Baptist were again baptized in the Name of Jesus who is the Christ and then they received the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:38, Acts 19:2-7.

In the Christian Church as we have a completed revelation from God, the Bible we begin with repentance toward God moving to faith in Jesus as God’s Christ, the anointed of God, our vicarious, substitute sin offering, Acts 20:20-21 as it is a completed work with the Bible showing us the way.

Jesus Christ is the permanent sacrifice so when we invoke 1John 1:9, confessing our sins in the name of Jesus Christ, God is satiated, satisfied and justified to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

The Burning Bush:

Exodus 3:4 And when the LORD, Jehovah saw that he, Moses turned aside to see, the burning bush, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he, Moses said, Here am I.

Exodus 3:5 And he Jehovah said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Exodus 3:6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, Exodus 6:3.

A Human Reaction:

And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

The Burning Bush was not God but God was in the midst of the bush speaking to Moses who was “Face to Face” with God.

When we read or are listening to the reading of the Bible we are “Face to Face” with God, 1Corinthians 13:6-13 with verse 12 being “Face to Face”.

Many years back Kitty Wells sang a song “Dust on the Bible” meaning the Bible was in hand but not being read meaning it is not profiting its owners.

Sin in the camp:

Joshua 7:1 And the sons of Israel sinned a sin in the devoted things. And Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah took of the devoted things. And the anger of Jehovahglowedagainstthe sons of Israel.

This is a word picture of embers, hot coals that are always there but does not become a flame, a fire until it is fanned by air but in this case SIN is the fan.

Joshua 7:2 And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth-aven, on the east of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, Go up and spy out the land. And the men went up and spied out Ai.

Joshua 7:3 And they, the Spies returned to Joshua, and said to him, Do not let all the people go up. Let about two thousand men, or about three thousand men, go up, and they shall strike Ai. Do not cause all the people to labor there, for they are few.

Joshua 7:4 And about three thousand men of the people went up there. And they fled before the men of Ai.

Joshua 7:5 And the men of Ai struck about thirty six men of them, and pursued them before the gate to Shebarim. And they struck them in the descent. And the heart of the people, Israel was melted, and became as water.

Joshua’s Lamentation:

Joshua 7:6 And Joshua tore his clothing, and fell on his face to the earth before the ark of Jehovah until the evening, he and the elders of Israel. And they threw dust on their heads.

Joshua 7:7 And Joshua said, Oh Lord Jehovah, why have You at all caused this people to cross over the Jordan to give us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us? And, Oh that we had been willing, and that we had dwelt beyond the Jordan!

Joshua 7:8 Oh Lord, what shall I say, after Israel has turned its back before its enemies?

Joshua 7:9 And the Canaanites, and all the ones living in the land shall hear, and shall come around against us, and shall cut off our name out of the earth. And what shall You do for Your great name?

Joshua 7:10 And Jehovah said to Joshua, Get up! Why do you fall on your facethis way?

This way is from the Literal Translation, L.I.T.V but is not in most English translations but has been omitted.

Joshua begins a Lamentation in which he assumes the Lord Jehovah who brought the people of Israel across the Jordan and has then abandoned them, “OH ye of little Faith”.

So, here again is a lesson in learning patience and the consequences of Sin through the discipline of tribulation, Romans 5:3-5

A wilderness Worship Service:

Joshua 8:33 All Israel with their elders and officers and their judges were standing on both sides of the ark before the Levitical priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, the stranger as well as the native. Half of them stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, just as Moses the servant of the LORD had given command at first to bless the people of Israel.

In the Military we would call this a formation which in this case seems to resemble a Roman Cross??

Joshua 8:34 Then afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessing and the curse, according to all that is written in the book of the law.

Joshua 8:35 There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel with the women and the little ones and the strangers, Gentiles who were living among them.
