The message of God to John the Apostle!
Revelation 1:19 “Write therefore the 1. things which you have seen, and the 2. things which are, and the 3. things which shall take place after these things.
This is a short outline for Revelation with item #1 being chapters 1. Item #2 is chapters 2 & 3. Item #3 is chapter 4 through 22 with chapter 4 beginning with the Rapture.
Revelation 1:20 “As for the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
Angel and church here are in the plural meaning each of the seven Churches has one Angel each.
Revelation 1:4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia, Turkey: Grace to you and peace, from him who is and who was and who is to come; and from the seven Spirits that are before his throne;
Revelation 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loveth us, and loosed us from our sins by his blood;
Revelation 1:6 and he, Jesus Christ made us to be a kingdom, to be priests unto his God and Father; to him, God be the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Angel in the Greek means messenger and in this case probably means the Pastor teacher that God has placed in each church who communicates God’s word to their respective congregation’s, Ephesians 4:11.
Lampstand here is a Greek word meaning a single lamp, light and is held up here with that light being Jesus Christ, the light of the world.
If this church were a Jewish synagogue the lamp stand would have been a menorah with seven lights with all this probably meaning that currently the Christian Church, Jew and gentile are holding up the âLight of the worldâ who is Jesus Christ. The menorah has seven lamps which equal numbers totaled to the seven Churches and seven Spirits, Revelation 1:4-6.

Revelation 3:1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God, Revelation 4:5, and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.
Name here probably means reputation.
Dead here is the Greek word for corpse perhaps meaning they have gone to seed and are not moving for the Lord.
Revelation 3:2 ‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.
Revelation 3:3 ‘Remember: therefore what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent, If therefore you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.
Because single light lampstands are the issue here the threat here must be the loss of their lampstand and the benefits that go with it, see Rev 3:5 below.
There appears to be a two fold problem here:
their works are not complete probably meaning they are skipping some issues and they themselves know what these issues are.
There are moral issues here with many of their members but those members not involved still have clean white garments and they will walk with Christ in white.
Revelation 3:4 ‘But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white; for they are worthy, Revelation 19:7-8.
Revelation 3:5 ‘He who overcomes shall thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels.
The following excerpts from 2Peter, 1John, and Galatians will help us to understand Revelation 3:4-5.
Merely attending any Church will not put us in a blessed position but walking with the Lord in humility and obedience to righteousness is where the blessing is.
2Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2Peter 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them, Probably repentance, Acts 20:20-21.
2Peter 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire, 1John 5:4-5, see below.
1John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
1John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many Antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1John 2:19 They, antichrist went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
1John 2:20 But ye have an unction, anointing from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
1John 2:21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
These possibly are members of Local Churches who know the truth as presented by the Pastor Teacher but having learned the truth possibly never made a commitment to live Godly in Christ Jesus called repentance or they made a verbal commitment to do so but did not follow through and faith without Godly works is a dead faith, James 2:17 and after awhile returned to their former way of life having never been âBorn againâ which God in His foreknowledge foreknew but gave them the opportunity to be saved, Romans 8:29.
None of us are yet perfect but we press on with 1John 1:9 and the Holy Spirit helping us to a guaranteed success but we need perseverance as an attribute in our character.
1Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1Peter 1:4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
1Peter 1:5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time, Romans 8:29.
Overcomer’s guarantee!
1John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith.
1John 5:5 And who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God, 1John 5:1.
Overcoming the world means to over come the ways of the world which is breaking the laws of God which are âLoving Godâ and âLoving our neighborâ as per the 10 commandments.
His Angels Rev.3:5 above also called messengers are not human as Pastor teachers are but they are elect Angels from the third heaven which is God’s heaven and is where we, our spirit and soul go to when we leave our body and the body without the spirit is dead, James 2:26 meaning we die.
At the Church Rapture we will return with Jesus Christ and get our new body and will return to God’s heaven and wait for the second coming seven years later but in the mean time we will be occupied with the splendor of heaven including God Himself and His heavenly creatures.
The successful Church!
Revelation 3:7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this:
The Key of David is most probably to the house of King David being the throne of King David that now belongs to Jesus Christ with His humanity being the heir of King David through His mother who is the Virgin Mary.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
Romans 8:17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
The form of suffering here might be ostracism by an unbelieving world or death from the enemies of God who are Antichrist, the soldiers of Satan who are humans and they are also called âThe Sons, children of Disobedienceâ, Ephesians 2:2.
Revelation 3:8 ‘I know your deeds. Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because: you have a little power, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name.
The open door most probably is to the joint Heirs with Christ who is Jesus, and we are royalty, Romans 8:17 Above however many believe this to be a door of opportunity, 1Corinthians 16:8-9.
Revelation 3:9 ‘Behold, I will cause those of the synagogue of Satan, who say that they are Jews, and are not, but lie–behold, I will make them to come and bow down at your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
Romans 2:27 And he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a transgressor of the Law?
Romans 2:28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.
Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.
The Jews of consequence are spiritual Jews. Jews according to the flesh only are not of the Spirit. The first Christians were also Jews according to the flesh with gentiles being included shortly after Pentecost.
Romans 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, a gentile wert grafted in among them, Jews and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Romans 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Revelation 3:10 ‘Because: you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell upon the earth.
Unbelievers are said to dwell on planet Earth with the residence of all believers said to be in Heaven as we are So journeying on planet Earth, a temporary home for us.
Revelation 4:1 is where the Apostle John is called up to heaven while he is out of his body and in the spirit meaning his body was dead and he was alive in the spirit. John was returned to planet Earth and resuscitated to complete his ministry and life. At death he returned to God’s heaven and is awaiting the rapture and is occupied with the things of Heaven.
Sinful flesh cannot stand before God but apparently regenerated spirits and newly resurrected and conformed bodies can, Exodus 33:20-23.
Revelation 3:11 ‘I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, in order that no one take your crown.
Crown here is a victors crown and not a kings crown but is a permanent crown and is probably the crown of life, James 1:12, Revelation 2:10.
Revelation 3:12 ‘He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name.
Revelation 3:13 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
The new Jerusalem will probably orbit planet earth for many reasons. If it set on planet Earth at best the earth would be lop sided and at worst would gyrate like a mis loaded washing machine.
My new name may be âThe Word of Godâ, Revelation 19:12-13.
