EXPLICIT BIBLE TRUTH
Jesus
Who is He
What is He
Why is He
Matthew chapter 22:
OUTER DARKNESS
1**And Jesus answered and spoke to them again IN PARABLES, saying,
2**”The KINGDOM OF HEAVEN may be compared to a king, who gave a wedding feast for his son.
THE OLD TESTAMENT PROPHETS:
3**”And he sent out his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast, and they were unwilling to come.
4**”Again he sent out other slaves saying, ‘Tell those who have been invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fattened livestock are all butchered and everything is ready; come to the wedding feast.”‘
IGNORING AND KILLING THE PROPHETS:
5**”But they paid no attention and went their way, one to his own farm, another to his business,
6**and the rest seized his slaves and mistreated them and killed them, Acts 7:52.
THE JEWISH DEPORTATION TO BABYLON AND
DESTRUCTION OF JERUSALEM AND THE
TEMPLE BY NEBUCHADNEZZAR
ABOUT THE YEAR 600BC:
7**”But the king was enraged and sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and set their city on fire
8**”Then he *said to his slaves, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.
CALLING OF THE JEWISH DISPERSION
AND GENTILES BY THE APOSTLES
BEGINNING AT PENTACOST
ACTS 2:5-14
About the year 33AD:
9**’Go therefore to the main highways, and as many as you find there, invite to the wedding feast.’
10**”And those slaves went out into the streets, and gathered together all they found, both BAD AND GOOD; and the wedding hall was filled with dinner guests.
BAD AND GOOD are wearing wedding garments here with the exception of one man who was invited but apparently saw no need to wear a wedding garment. The wedding garment here most probably represents the righteousness of Jesus Christ which is freely given to those who accept it, Acts 2:21. This man is self righteous.
11**”But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw there a man not dressed in wedding clothes,
12**and he *said to him, ‘Friend, fellow how did you come in here without wedding clothes?’ And he was speechless.
13**”Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into OUTER DARKNESS; in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
14**”For many are called, but few are chosen.”
COMMENTARY:
Everyone is called by the Gospel but some too many will not heed the call. God foreknew who would and who would not. Those who would are the elect, chosen of God and those who would not, Romans 1:28-32 he left to their own devises.
Many have lived and died and have never heard the Gospel so Christ preached the Gospel to the dead, 1Peter 4:6 during his 3 days in the heart of the Earth, Matthew 12:40, Ephesians 4:8-9.
The unredeemed that die after the resurrection of Christ Jesus will be Judged at the 2nd major resurrection, John 5:28-29, Revelation 20:11-15 which is the 5th and final resurrection. They will be judged by their works as at the Sheep and Goat judgment, Matthew 24:32-40 and some too many will survive, the ones who were merciful to others, Matthew 5:7.
OUTER DARKNESS is Spiritual Darkness meaning Spiritual Blindness or no spiritual illumination by God’s Word the Bible. In this case it is the Old Testament the TORAH also called the Law and the Prophets as the New Testament had not yet been written. The Old Testament contains the Credentials for the Messiah, Luke 24:44-46.
The Old Testament Scriptures, John 5:39-40, Matthew 15:1-14 were ignored and replaced by commentary called the TRADITIONS OF THE ELDERS also called the TALMUD which was warped and perverted commentary of the Old Testament Holy Scriptures. The Talmud writings began during the Babylonian captivity and are still used today.
Saul of Tarsus who before becoming the Apostle Paul was steeped in the TALMUD, THE RELIGION OF THE JEWS and he persecuted Christians, Galatians 1:13-14.
Without illumination of the Scriptures by the Holy Spirit we cannot understand God’s plan, Acts 16:14, 1Corinthians 2:14-16. Unless we are born of God we cannot comprehend the contents of Scripture.
Suffering here is WORLDLY SUFFERING where the man without wedding clothing is bound and cannot enter the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN which is yet future.
The targets of this object lesson here are Pharisees who thought they would enter the wedding party as a RIGHT OF THEIR RELIGION and needed no wedding garment. The Garments here represent the covering of our nakedness in salvation by the BLOOD OF THE LAMB OF GOD. Revelation 7:13-14 is a picture of saved people who lived as the world lives spotting their garments and missed the Church Rapture, Revelation 3:4, Jude 1:23, Ephesians 5:25-27. Revelation 6:11 and 7:9 are the redeemed of the Great tribulation who receive robes at that time.
The guests here are saved people but they are NOT the Bride. The Bride of Christ is the non-denominational Church which is composed of Jew and Gentile, Male and Female, rich and poor but with no class or ethnic or gender distinction with some to many also belonging to denominational Churches. The Church is not the Bride of Jesus. We are the Bride of Christ because we are permanently indwelt by Christ who is God, Ephesians 4:15 also meaning we are sons of God.
Jesus is the body of God, the visible image of the invisible God and He is our Lord and brother and He is the pattern that we are being conformed to, 1Corinthians 15:49, Romans 8:29 and we will receive the ADOPTION OF SONS, Romans 8:23. God will rule the world through Jesus and every knee will bow, Philippians 2:9-11 at the name of the Jesus of the Bible for who He was and is and what He did and does in intercession and ruling.
The weeping and gnashing of teeth probably is referring to the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple and deportation, dispersion of Judah, the Jews in 70AD by the Romans, Daniel 9:26 which will continue through the great tribulation period of 3.5 years ending at Armageddon but punctuated with periods of relative peace as it is today with the Jew being persecuted but not slaughtered as has been done many times in the past.
